This role is for the duration of the Brisbane season of Disney’s The Lion King. Contract dates are approximately 10 November 2026 – 8 March 2027 (usual show schedule, matinees and evenings).
Reporting to the Head of Hair and Makeup, the Hair and Makeup Assistant will support the delivery of skilled makeup requirements throughout rehearsals and performances. The role is responsible for assisting with the application, maintenance, and continuity of performer makeup and hair designs, ensuring looks are consistently executed to the required artistic, technical, and production standards.
Key responsibilities include:
- Applying, maintaining, makeup designs and resetting wigs for performers in line with approved designs and production requirements.
- Executing assigned hair and makeup responsibilities consistently and in accordance with rehearsal requirements and performance requirements.
- Maintaining the consistency and quality of performer hair and makeup looks throughout all performances, including required adjustments and resets.
- Assisting performers with pre-show preparation, in-performance maintenance, and post-show resets as required.
- Maintaining wigs, hairpieces, makeup kits, tools, and workstations in a clean, hygienic, organised, and professional condition.
- Monitoring the condition of wigs, hairpieces, makeup products, and related equipment, and reporting any maintenance, repair, or replacement requirements promptly.
- Applying hair and makeup skills to support the preparation, upkeep, and ongoing maintenance of the hair and makeup department throughout the production.
- Collaborating with Wardrobe, Stage Management, performers, and other production departments to support efficient and safe performance operations.
- Reporting any safety, hygiene, equipment, or operational concerns promptly to the Head of Hair and Makeup, Company Management, and/or Technical Director.
- Complying with all venue regulations, hygiene standards, safety procedures, and Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) requirements.
- Attending rehearsals, production meetings, department meetings, and performance calls as required.
