Job Summary
The Senior Manager Publicity is a knowledgeable strategic leader responsible for driving end-to-end publicity strategy and execution for Korean and Japanese Disney+ Original titles across the APAC region, ensuring campaigns are impactful, locally relevant, and aligned with Disney’s broader storytelling and brand objectives.
What You Will Do:
- Lead publicity strategy and execution for Korean and Japanese Disney+ Original titles across the APAC region, ensuring campaigns are aligned with regional and local business priorities and audience needs.
- Develop integrated title publicity plans in partnership with local market teams, regional stakeholders, studios, and external agencies, ensuring clear objectives, timelines, and performance measures.
- Lead and manage media activities, including press conferences, media interviews, talent publicity tours, press junkets, set visits and content showcases and other related publicity events to maximize title visibility and awareness across APAC.
- Collaborate with global PR teams to localize publicity strategies and plan while ensuring consistency in messaging and campaign objectives across markets.
- Partner closely with Content Marketing, Brand & Franchise, Creative, and Studio teams to maximize title awareness and audience engagement through integrated publicity and marketing efforts.
- Manage relationships with filmmakers, talent representatives, media partners, and publicity agencies throughout the campaign lifecycle, ensuring alignment, trust, and effective collaboration.
- Identify regional publicity opportunities and optimize resources across markets to increase the impact of Disney+ original content, balancing strategic priorities with operational realities.
- Provide strategic counsel and campaign recommendations based on market insights, media landscape, and audience trends, and share post-campaign learnings and best practices across APAC.
- Guide teams by aligning business strategies and priorities, defining expectations, and connecting team responsibilities to company-wide goals, enabling solutions for both immediate and future challenges.
- Collaborate closely with APAC and global partners while reporting to the Executive Director, APAC Local Content Marketing, Brand, Franchise & Publicity to ensure alignment on strategy, priorities, and performance expectations.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
- Native-level fluency in both Korean and English, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience leading title publicity campaigns within the entertainment, media, streaming, or studio industry.
- Proven experience developing and executing integrated publicity strategies and plans for film, television, or streaming content.
- Strong collaboration and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build partnerships, influence across functions, and work collaboratively to meet shared objectives.
- Experience in working with regional and global stakeholders across multiple markets, including local publicity/marketing teams and central partners.
- Strong understanding of the Korean and Japanese media landscape and entertainment industry; APAC experience highly preferred.
- Experience managing external talent agencies, PR agencies, media partners, and vendors.
- Experience in planning and executing press junkets, talent tours, festivals, and other publicity activities.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple high-profile campaigns simultaneously in a fast-paced environment, with strong organizational and project management skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Media, or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience in publicity, communications, entertainment marketing, or related fields, including 3+ years of management experience leading teams or first-line leaders.
- Thinks strategically and prioritizes effectively, envisioning future possibilities and creating breakthrough strategies that align team work with organizational goals.
- Demonstrated capability as a mentor and people leader, providing continuous coaching, feedback, and development support to help individuals and teams succeed.
