About the Role & Program
Join us for the opportunity to intern with the Disney Branded Television’s Business Affairs team and become a meaningful member of the team! Disney Branded Television (DBT) develops and produces television series for the kids and family audience across linear and direct-to-consumer platforms. Our team is responsible for structuring, negotiating, documenting, and managing the DBT animation portfolio to engage above-the-line talent (writers, producers, directors and actors) and acquire underlying rights for DBT programming.
You will be a strong contributor by supporting deal negotiations to secure rights and interests in television series projects from initial development though production and delivery. You will aid in deal term tracking across various types of deals and platforms.
This is a part-time internship opportunity. The approximate dates of this internship are May/June 2026 through November/December 2026. If selected for this role, you will report directly to the Vice President, Business Affairs.
What You Will Do
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Assisting with deal negotiations.
Drafting basic short form contracts involving the development and production of television pilots, series and films.
Learning the collaborative process between Business Affairs and Legal Affairs to secure legal and contractual rights in long-form agreements.
Assisting in development and updating of standard agreements, forms, and procedures.
Reviewing existing deal memos and contracts to create precedent charts.
Deal term tracking across various types of deals.
Required Qualifications & Skills
A strong interest in entertainment law, the television business, animation and/or negotiation theory/strategy (relevant coursework is a bonus).
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook is a must.
Experience working in collaborative environments and managing multiple projects.
High attention to detail and experience multitasking in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous work experience in the entertainment industry, and basic knowledge of copyright law.
Education
Currently enrolled at an accredited law school and legally eligible to work in the U.S.
Completion of one or more years of law school in a current JD program at the start of the internship
Eligibility Requirements & Program Information
Candidates for this opportunity MUST meet all of the below requirements:
Be enrolled in an accredited college/university pursuing a degree taking at least one class at time of application OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Internship.
Current Disney Interns, College, International, or Culinary Program Participants: You may only work for ONE consecutive year (12 months) in any combination of an internship and/or program.
Be at least 18 years of age
Possess unrestricted work authorization
Additional Information
Able to have a consistent, reliable work schedule throughout the internship
The approximate dates of this internship are May/June 2026 through November/December 2026
Able to work 20 - 24 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 9am - 6pm PST
Able to provide own housing for the duration internship program in the California area
Able to provide/have reliable transportation to/from work
The pay rate for this role in California is $41.40 per hour.
