The Programming Strategy and Content Planning department is responsible for:
Maximizing the enterprise value of our content lifecycles through strategic content planning and collaborative windowing across all platforms.
Supporting delivery of key revenue targets across Ad Sales, Affiliate Sales, Consumer Products and International affiliated networks + key metrics across DTC platforms.
Partnering with content studios to set audience strategy, identify content pipeline needs and creative opportunities across multiple editorial supply lines.
Job Summary:
The Senior Manager, Programming Strategy manages the linear scheduling strategy for FX Networks. This role oversees day-to-day schedule management, supports long-term content planning, and partners cross-functionally to drive ratings performance, brand alignment, and audience engagement across key demographics. Building and maintaining strong, trusted relationships across the department and organization will be critical to success in this role.
Programming Strategy & Scheduling:
Responsible for strategic scheduling of FX linear network with consideration for performance optimization, inventory management, Synergy priorities, seasonality, and support for FX Originals.
Develop and manage weekly, monthly, and long-range linear program schedules.
Leverage data-driven insights to optimize performance across all FX Networks.
Create stunts and themed programming initiatives, in collaboration with network and platform partners.
Manage contract entries and usage reports for all movie inventory and work closely with Director to ensure usage projections and actuals are in alignment.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Work closely with On-Air Promotions, Digital/Streaming, and Communications teams to ensure all departments are informed on latest schedules and plans.
Coordinate with Standards & Practices and Operations teams to ensure compliance and smooth execution.
Represent Programming in internal meetings and cross-departmental forums.
Serve as primary partner to Product and Technology teams for improving functionality of scheduling tools and programs.
Leadership & Project Management:
Approach process challenges with a nimble, collaborative, problem-solving mindset.
Direct management of Programming Manager and Programming Strategist.
Support both Manager and Strategist in reviewing and providing feedback on network schedules for FXX and FXM.
Basic Qualifications:
6+ years of experience in Program Scheduling or Content Strategy within a major media or technology company.
In-depth experience in programming large movie libraries and Premium Originals.
Advanced data literacy – ability to analyze data and develop strategies to drive performance.
3+ years of managing and leading teams.
Superior analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working alongside Creative Development.
Familiarity with Disney brands and franchises.
Passion for premium Scripted Original programming.
Experience with windowing programming across linear, digital, and streaming platforms.
An inquisitive, flexible mindset – unafraid to ask questions and eager to learn.
Demonstrated ability to maintain composure and focus within a fast-paced, high-stakes environment.
Advanced Excel and presentation skills (PowerPoint/Keynote)
Required Education:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
The hiring range for this position in Burbank, CA is $126,800 to $170,000 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
