Position Summary:

The International Content Strategy & Operations (“ICSO”) team partners with the international regional teams, finance, content planning and analysis, direct-to-consumer, and other internal stakeholders on optimizing the strategy and operations related to non-US content for TWDC’s digital streaming services throughout LatAm, EMEA, and APAC. ICSO is a core group within Disney Entertainment Television that guides critical business decisions through financial, operational, and strategic analysis to inform important business and content related decisions in the ongoing growth of the business. The team works side-by-side with content leaders across the globe and serves as the key point-of-contact and bridge between all the regions and Burbank. 

This role reports to the Executive Director International Content Strategy & Operations and is responsible for conducting analyses of content and marketing performance, audience insights, business operations, market trends, and competitor activities to develop effective strategies and plans, in addition to maintaining databases and enabling information flow to support decision making in the ongoing growth of the business. This role will be responsible for analytically evaluating the investment and performance of our local content on the various Disney Streaming platforms (Disney+ and Hulu) and across multiple distribution windows. This role will work on projects involving different content categories/genres, with a particular focus on international markets and content, as well as portfolio level analyses, third party licensing deal tracking and valuations, distribution and windowing decisions, and executive-level analysis and reporting for leaders in Disney Entertainment (DE). This role will include structuring and building sophisticated financial and data models for the evaluation of DTC content investments. The individual must be an excellent communicator and relationship-builder. This person must have strong data and presentation skills. He or she will also be extremely organized, detailed-oriented and process-minded.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Structure and build complex financial models to inform decision making across a variety of projects, including new business development opportunities and assessing opportunities for growth acceleration across international markets

  • Creating presentations, including using effective visualization, to summarize insights on portfolio/brand/genre/title performances, including compiling thoughtful content and marketing post-mortem analyses to determine areas for optimization and improvement.

  • Conducting analyses of portfolio and title-level content performance (generally using Excel or other data language tools to manipulate and interpret large sets of data)

  • Support ad hoc strategic initiatives focused on emerging media, new content categories, AI, and short-form content, pushing DET’s innovation agenda forward

  • Proven track record of automating recurring analytical or reporting processes.

  • Maintain, update, curate, and automate key content datasets (e.g., attributes, categorization, rights information) to ensure completeness, accuracy, and usability across reporting and analytical systems by leveraging internal databases and advanced data/AI tools. Deliver ICSO's systems and product customization projects by leveraging internal data visualization tools (Looker, Airtable, Tableau).

  • Supporting team with day-to-day tracking of the International Content slate updating our Airtable through constant contact with the regional, finance, comms, programming and other relevant teams; create and keep improving trackers of our international titles (both titles in development and once greenlit) including key data such as rights, sunrise dates, budget, loglines, etc.

  • Manage a complex supply chain of quantitative and qualitative information and processes among a broad array of stakeholders (including finance, research, strategy, business affairs, legal and labor relations among others) and synthesize into clear, actionable insights

  • Be the expert on the international local content slates; be able to efficiently answer ad hoc questions on the slates from our senior leaders; and be able to pull data for leadership whenever requested in a timely manner

  • Create best practices and deliver consistent data, reporting and insights

  • Update and maintain department tracking documents (e.g., weekly scheduling calendars, regional licensing deals, content opportunities, formats) by interfacing with regional and Burbank stakeholders

  • Work closely with the Data team and be the expert in Audience Segmentation and Content Mapping frameworks, helping local teams apply insights to programming and strategic planning

  • Establish processes for vetting the international content for potentially sensitive content or issues; innovating and integrating new technologies (AI and machine learning) to make process more efficient; working with relevant stakeholders to address issues

  • Provide thought and people leadership, managing and mentoring a team of high performing interns as they deliver on both short-term requests along with longer-term complex analyses and modeling. Develop and grow the team of interns by reviewing their work for quality and completeness, developing team goals, and providing opportunities for growth and visibility

Basic Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of work experience preferably in consulting, investment banking, finance/strategy roles at media/technology companies, or other quantitative fields within Entertainment required.

  • Highly advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills with the ability to build complex financial models required.

  • Fluency in building visualizations of complex data sets

  • Proficiency in Airtable, Keynote, Google Slides, and adaptability with new tools.  

  • SQL/Python/R a plus

  • Candidates must live within a reasonable distance to Burbank, CA. This role requires someone onsite 4 days a week. Required

  • High EQ and communication skills, professional maturity, ability to engage with senior stakeholders with developed opinions and to build and manage relationships across a complex, matrixed organization

Required Education:

  • 4-year degree in relevant fields with strong academic performance.

The hiring range for this position in Burbank, CA is $115,500 to $154,800 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
