Walt Disney Pictures is seeking an Associate Manager, Employee Relations to join the Walt Disney Studios People & Culture team. The Employee Relations function is dedicated to fostering a fair and inclusive workplace that protects the company’s employment brand by ensuring employee and organizational interests are addressed consistently and equitably. This role will contribute to the ongoing development of the Walt Disney Studios Employee Relations department and serve as a project manager for production compliance training, as well as the primary contact for organizing, scheduling, and managing data associated with both production and Studio overhead training requirements.
Job Responsibilities:
- Conduct entry level workplace investigations related to policy violations.
- In partnership with Sr. Manager, Employee Relations, manage medical and religious workplace accommodation requests, and escalate cases appropriately to Sr. ER leadership.
- Stay informed about changes to policies and procedures, proactively documenting, maintaining, and organizing related practices and protocols for Employee Relations.
- Keep accurate production records for Employee Relations and assist the team with new legal requirements affecting crew data collection and storage.
- Build strong, client-focused relationships with People & Culture - Production teams and other internal partners, prioritizing collaboration and inclusion.
- Oversee all aspects of production training for Studios, which includes leading studio production training introductory meetings with new and current productions, utilizing the Genius platform to enhance crew experiences through course enrollments and tracking for Studio production and partnering with internal stakeholders to streamline training process for productions.
- Conduct Respect in the Workplace training for minors working on set and support the Employee Relations team with Anti-Harassment trainings for crew and studio overhead.
- Maintain frequent communication with production teams to ensure compliance training is scheduled and completed promptly, escalating applicable matters quickly to the Director, Employee Relations.
- Lead initiatives to streamline and automate applicable components of the compliance training process in collaboration with Innovation Enablement including organizing data for tracking and reporting.
- Manage delinquency reports for production and Studio overhead executives, and communicate updates to designated People & Culture Business Partners and Labor Relations.
Experience / Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in related field or related work experience required; JD preferred
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in Human Resources, Employee Relations, or related field
- Able to comprehend employment law and practices, as well as Company policies/guidelines with the ability to effectively apply the knowledge to multiple situations
- Strong project management skills; can effectively handle and execute multiple projects in a fast faced environment through exceptional organizational, prioritization, and time management skills
- Ability to consult and respond to inquiries from a wide variety of key stakeholders
- Creative and strategic problem solving skills; ability to effectively resolve conflict
- Advanced communication skills; analyzes, interprets, and provides key and complex communication to team members, clients, and partners, both written and orally
- Strong analytical skills; ability to research, consolidate data and formulate observations/recommendations
- Ability to handle highly sensitive and confidential information with discretion
- Ability to recognize sensitive matters and escalate appropriately to Sr. ER Leadership
The hiring range for this position in Burbank, CA is $115,300.00 to $140,900.00 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
