Job Description – Senior Manager, Trading (M3)
Role Summary
The Senior Manager, Trading is a senior commercial leader accountable for driving trading performance and ensuring that all business trends, commercial initiatives, and strategic considerations are accurately reflected in the P&L.
This role partners closely with Finance Planning to help build the commercial plan and translate business dynamics into financial outcomes.
Operating at the intersection of Finance, Marketing, Analytics, Content, Partnerships, and Product, this role builds and models commercial business cases, orchestrates execution of trading levers, leads churn and retention efforts, and owns BAU trading performance reporting.
Key Responsibilities
1. Financial Planning, Business Trends & P&L Ownership
- Ensure that all relevant business trends, risks, opportunities, and commercial considerations are reflected in the P&L.
- Partner with Finance Planning to help build the commercial plan, including forecasts, scenarios, and sensitivities.
- Translate trading activity, market dynamics, and strategic decisions into clear financial implications.
- Act as a key thought partner to Finance in balancing growth, investment, and profitability.
2. Commercial Business Case Development
- Build and model commercial business cases for current and new initiatives, including:
- New commerce or monetization opportunities
- Pricing, promotions, and bundled propositions
- Incremental or shifted spend scenarios
- Assess feasibility, scalability, risks, and expected P&L impact.
- Present data-backed recommendations to senior stakeholders to support decision-making.
3. Trading Execution & Action Plan Orchestration
- Orchestrate cross-functional action plans to deliver commercial targets, including:
- Upsell campaigns
- Promotions
- Incremental or re-allocated spend
- Content scheduling aligned with commercial objectives
- Partnership activity and joint initiatives
- Act as the central integrator across Marketing, Content, Analytics, Product, Partnerships, and Finance.
- Ensure end-to-end execution discipline and alignment with financial goals.
4. Churn & Retention Leadership
- Lead all churn-related efforts across the organization, including:
- Strategic initiatives and roadmap definition
- Experimentation and testing frameworks
- Payments optimization and friction reduction
- Partner with Analytics, Product, and Finance to identify churn drivers and translate insights into actionable interventions.
- Track performance and financial impact of churn initiatives.
5. BAU Trading Performance Reporting
- Own Business-As-Usual (BAU) trading performance reporting, ensuring:
- Consistent, high-quality tracking of trading KPIs
- Clear performance visibility versus targets
- Action-oriented insights for leadership forums
- Shape the trading performance narrative, connecting results, trends, and corrective levers.
