Architecture & Facilities Engineering (A&FE) is looking for an Electrical Engineer to support the development and sustainment of projects throughout the Disneyland Resort. Our department supports a wide range of facilities-related projects that extend into attractions, facility maintenance, food and beverage, merchandise, and entertainment. Projects range from minor renovations to new facilities to immediate response efforts with reactionary projects. This position requires the successful candidate to be the technical Owner’s Representative in electrical engineering to address issues, design manage in-house and outside resources, guide and enforce code compliance with Disney design standards, documentation, specifications, and life cycle cost analysis for best value. This role will require consistent and continuous close collaboration with other engineering disciplines and multiple Disney project teams including Facility Asset Management (FAM), Walt Disney Imagineering (WDI), Entertainment, Food and Beverage, and Operations.
As an Electrical Engineer, you will manage and be the owner’s representative from inception through design and be involved in implementation and sustainment of various electrical systems at the Disneyland Resort. You will help develop bid-level construction documents including drawings and specifications. Another responsibility is to provide immediate support and response to reactionary projects requiring immediate attention. This role will develop and author proposals and develop workload estimates with critical path schedule dates to support our project management team.
You will report to the Senior Manager - MEP Engineering with DLR Architecture & Facilities Engineering.
Leadership:
- In this collaborative role, you will act as Owner’s Technical Representative on projects from concept through sustainment throughout the Disneyland Resort and ancillary properties.
- Perform as Owner’s Representative, including witnessing the signing and sealing of construction documents as needed.
- Provide engineering guidance and best practices established in Disney Master Design Specifications (DMGS), and other Disney design requirements.
Management:
- Manage the design and development of contract documents of projects with in-house and outside resources to meet project scopes, schedules, and budgets.
- Coordinate design activities and monitor field installations and demolition work that comply with specifications and code requirements.
- Enforce DMGS and related engineering best practices.
Technical Skills:
- Use and build your experience to develop concept designs and RFPs (Request for Proposals).
- Review drawings, engineering calculations, and specifications and ensure that all projects are designed and executed to applicable local and state codes and statutes.
- Review shop drawing submittals and respond to vendor’s requests for information per Resort standards.
- Perform site visits to solve problems and minimize schedule impacts.
Relationship:
- Partner with internal teams to develop, maintain, communicate, and enforce Walt Disney Company design guidelines, standards, master specifications, and details.
- Assist Project and Design Managers to resolve design compliance issues relating to Project requirements. Validate that all Item Specifications are consistent with products installed before archiving manuals.
- Build enhanced communications and expectations to successfully execute all projects.
Essential Qualifications
- BS Electrical Engineering or related field from an ABET accredited university. Alt - Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges (ACCSC) with specific discipline focus with Professional Engineer progress
- 2 to 5 years of experience in Electrical engineering and design performing in various electrical system design, implementation and sustainment. In-depth experience in various facility related electrical systems.
- Experience with being owner’s technical representation, concept through sustainment of designs, and direct construction support; all with working knowledge of federal, state standards and codes.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior Disney experience
- Other Disneyland Resort Lines of Business (LOB) experience
- Lighting design and implementation with certification
- UL requirement experience
The hiring range for this position in California is $101,800.00-$126,200.00 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
